Transformation through Dreamwork, Symbols, and Ritual Space

Dreamwork summons us to continually progress toward the greater good in a world that needs us. We will begin Friday evening by exploring how dream images offer guidance for healing, stimulate new forms of creativity, and energize spiritual transformation. Reflection and discernment of dream images and symbols lead to surprising new directions in people’s lives. Indeed, our dreams often become a rite of passage. Continuing on Saturday, we will create ritual space within which to do group dream work. We will explore the power of dream symbols for healing, creativity, and transformation.Participants may discover new directions or new meanings for their lives.

Clergy, licensed counselors, therapists, and social workers, and other pastoral care professionals are welcome to participate.

Objectives

Participants will be able to:

1. Describe Jung’s dream theory in a way that is pertinent to their own lives and professional endeavors and understand the basic nuances and sensitivities of doing dreamwork with clients, groups, spiritual direction, retreats, and other community settings;

2. Distinguish the non-literal nature of dream images and understand the specific language of the psyche in its communication through images and feelings; and

3. Discern the distinction between spirit and psyche in working with dreams and waking dreams (active imagination, lucid dreams) and the benefits of making an ongoing practice of dreamwork in their own lives and those of the people they work with.

CEs

CE credits will be available for licensed social workers, licensed marriage and family therapists, and licensed professional counselors.
