Unexpected Surprises in My First Congregation (1213-18)
Wayne A. Yost, General Presbyter, Presbytery of Kiskiminetas
Seminaries can only teach so much. In your first congregation (and sometimes in later ones!), issues and problems are likely to arise that were not in your textbooks or class notes. Who fixes the furnace? How do you read a budget? What is appropriate at weddings and funerals? How do you hire staff? If you aren’t careful, these and many more things are likely to undermine your time for preparing your sermons and providing pastoral care. In this class you will have the opportunity not only to consider the kinds of major issues and problems that appear most frequently but also to discuss topics that you and others in the course wish to raise. / January 7 – March 1, 2013 / $195 / 3.0 CEUs
