Experience of a lifetime! Spend time and learn with Mayan community groups working for peace, justice, reconciliation and human rights in Guatemala. Visit a school for families affected by genocide, a legal clinic involved in cases of genocide and women’s rights, women’s cooperatives and an organization which produces Just Us! Fair trade coffee, organic agriculture projects and communities affected by Canadian mining. Breaking the Silence delegations can be emotionally and physically challenging, but can also be life-changing. Cost: $2300 – covers registration, airfare and travel, carbon offsetting, accommodation, meals, translation, and expenses for leaders and partners. Full participation in orientation and re-entry sessions is required. Final date for applications February 29, 2012.

Jackie McVicar
Jackie McVicar is an adult educator who works part of the year in Guatemala, as Coordinator of the Tatamagouche Centre Guatemala Internship Program. This program supports International Human Rights Accompaniers and Canadian Interns, and works with Indigenous community-based groups in Guatemala.
Wyanne Sandler
Wyanne Sandler is an adult educator, and the Maritimes Coordinator for the Maritimes-Guatemala Breaking the Silence Network. She is also a member of the Tatamagouche Centre Program Resource Group.
