PWRDF is pleased to offer our annual Advent resource, a collection of daily scripture, reflections, stories and prayer to take you through the 24 days of Advent. This year, the Reverend Robert Mitchell, a parish priest in the Diocese of Toronto, draws parallels between the stories of women in the Bible and the women of PWRDF’s programs around the world.
“Stories of women are found all throughout the Bible,” he writes. “Like the men of the Bible, the women featured by the Biblical writers represent a range of personalities and dispositions. Like men, Biblical women were political and religious leaders, parents, slaves, and simply ordinary people driven to extraordinary achievements through circumstance and God’s guiding hand.”
PWRDF’s 2018 resources were created around the theme of Empowered Women, Empower Women. As Advent unfolds, we invite you to take a journey through the Bible and discover — or rediscover — the women at its heart, beginning December 2 with Eve, “the mother of all humanity” and ending on Christmas Day, with Mary, “the mother of all Christians.”
