Sandy-Saulteaux Spiritual CentreThe Sandy-Saulteaux Spiritual Centre is an Aboriginal Theological and Ministry Training Program of the United Church of Canada that prepares Aboriginal people for lay and ordered ministry by affirming a style of leadership appropriate to Aboriginal culture and Aboriginal church experience; and developing and testing curricula and models to uphold this style of learning including theological education by extension programs. The Sandy-Saulteaux Spiritual Centre provides cross-cultural and spiritual awareness for the larger community.
The Sandy -Saulteaux Spiritual Centre is located on 36 peaceful acres of wooded parkland beside the Brokenhead River, one mile east of Beausejour, Manitoba, Canada. The buildings include a main Lodge, offices, and three Residential Lodges. Meals are prepared on site.
The Programs
The Five-Year Community Based Ministry Program leads to a Diploma in Aboriginal Ministry. The Sandy Saulteaux Spiritual Centre has Testamur of the UCC: People completing the Five-Year Program can be Ordained or Commissioned to Diaconal Ministry.
A Three-Year Program leads to recognition as a Designated Lay Minister.
The Community Based Model balances field work in the community with Two-week Learning Circles four times a year at the Centre.
Learning Circle Course may be taken by lay people and as continuing education for clergy.
Through partnerships with other Universities, graduates may continue studies for a Bachelor of Arts.
Cross-cultural programs are offered for all ages.
