Iona College:
Iona College was established in 1964 as the affiliate college of the United Church of Canada at the University of Windsor.
Diploma In Rural Ministry:
Iona College has developed the Rural Ministry Diploma to strengthen and support ministry in the rural context, both for those in ordered ministry and those in lay ministry.
Four courses will be offered over a period of two years, one in each of the fall and winter semesters:
Ministry in a Rural Context
Theology of the Land
Farming 101: Understanding the Business of Farming
Rural Sociology
Each of these courses may be taken as continuing education or as a step towards a Diploma in Rural Ministry.
Those who currently are ordered ministry or highly trained lay ministers may complete the Diploma in Rural Ministry by the completion of a supervised, independent study course.
Others who desire a basic knowledge of theology with an emphasis on rural ministry may earn a Diploma of Rural Ministry through the completion of additional courses from the Iona College B.Th. degree program.
For those who choose to continue in the B.Th., the courses will be credited in that program.
