Welcome to The International Order of St. Luke the Physician. OSL is a body of Christians who believe that the healing of the body, mind and spirit is a vital part of the total ministry of Jesus Christ. As a world-wide interdenominational organization, we practice this ministry with teaching and prayer.
The History of OSL
Spiritually speaking, a major event of the 20th century has been the widespread awakening around the world to the tremendous resources of God’s healing power that are available to the human race, not just through scientific medicine but through believing prayer. Because of this, The Rev. John Gayner Banks and his wife Ethel Tulloch Banks shared a dream of drawing all those involved in the healing ministry under the umbrella of a world healing fellowship. They began to make their dream come true at St. Luke Church in San Diego, CA in the 1930s. People around the country and abroad were invited to join, and soon a once a month two-page newsletter was drawing them together in a bond of love and encouragement in the healing ministry. Thus began the International Order of St. Luke the Physician.
