Welcome

Created in 1988 from the fusion of the Canadian Society of Bioethic and the Société canadienne de la bioéthique médicale, the Canadian Bioethics Society has over 600 current members. The Society’s membership includes both individuals and organizations from a wide variety of fields, including medicine, law, theology, philosophy and public health, sharing common interest in ethical debates and in the human dimensions of health research and practice. Providing a range of relevant information, this site is intended as a resource for current and future members of the CBS, as well as for any other individuals or organizations interested in bioethical issues.

Our Mission

The Canadian Bioethics Society is a not-for-profit organization. It is a forum for professionals interested in sharing ideas relating to bioethics and in finding solutions to bioethical problems. The Society promotes the teaching of bioethics at all levels of post-secondary and continuing education. The Society also aims to promote research and publication in bioethics and to encourage the dissemination of information on bioethics to professionals in various fields as well as to the general public.
