This pilgrimage will acquaint participants with John Welsey’s heritage in England. We will examine not only places associated with John Wesley, but also his unique innovations in adapting faith to social responsiblity. We will also become acquainted with religious pluralism and diversity in England and engage in inter-religious dialogue. We will enjoy England’s historical and cultural treasures, while enabling maximum flexibility for each participant to craft his/her own itineraries to suit his/her tastes and interests.

Daily Itinerary
(tentative and subject to local circumstances):
individual preferences will be accomodated when possible

Day 1 Depart USA in evening.

Day 2 Arrive London, meet coach and SBS faculty escort at airport, transfer to London, touring as time permits (stopping for photo ops as possible and practical) including Natural History Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum, Royal Albert Memorial, Harrod’s, Piccadily Circus, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, Whitehall, Houses of Parliament (Big Ben), Westminster Abbey, dinner on your own, overnight London.

Day 3 British Methodist Church offices, Methodist Church in Brixton Hill, City Road Chapel, Bunyan Fields Cemetery, dinner on your own dinner on your own, overnight London.

Day 4 Salisbury Cathedral, Stonehenge, Glastonbury Abbey (time permitting), overnight Bristol or vicinity

Day 5 Bath, the Roman ruins, Bristol, Kingswood School/Wesley Centre, Bristol, Hanham Mount, The New Room, Charles Wesley’s House, overnight Bristol or Vicinity

Day 6 Oxford, Wesley Memorial Church, the Wesley Walk, visit Christ Church and Lincoln Colleges, St. Edmund Hall, New College (time permitting), overnight Oxford or vicinity

Day 7 Methodist Central Hall, meeting with Methodist MP, Brompton Oratory, Temple of Mithras, Wesley’s Chapel, additional touring as time permits, overnight London.

Day 8 Transfer to airport and return to the USA

Day 8 Flight to Edinburgh/Glasgow, overnight in the Scottish Highlands.

Day 9 Tour and explore highlights of the Scottish Highlands including the Grampian Mountains, Stirling Castle, Loch Lomond, overnight Edinburgh.

Day 10 Around Edinburgh, overnight Edinburgh.

Day 11 St. Andrew’s and the villages of Fife, overnight Edinburgh.

Day 12 Return to USA.
