TPN 1 is the first training module (of four), and participants will receive a 40-hour certificate, upon completion. (A 160-hour Third Party Neutral Program Certificate is issued upon completion of all four modules. Please refer to the CICR website for further information: http://www.cicr-icrc.ca)

- Examine the layers of conflict with an emphasis on deep-rooted / identity-based issues.
- Discover the core attributes of community-based conflict resolution.
- Learn the core principles for being an effective Third Party Neutral.
- Practice various techniques, including guidelines for mediators, the mediation process and process checklists.
