Overview

Recreate your life! Rethink ministry! Rediscover the theology of play!

What did Jesus have in mind when commanding us to become like little children? Come rediscover the creation account, the cultural mandate, and a theology of play. Remarkable things can happen as curiosity, wonder, and divergent thinking are applied to unlock the potential of the gifts, relationships, ministry, and parts of the world God has entrusted to you.

Playfulness, curiosity, and exploration are not just for children. The world does not shrink as you get older. It continues to be the vast mystery it is to children and continues to expand at exponential rates every day. Despite our struggles to believe it could be so, play is not a diversion or frivolous waste of time. Exploring the excessive potential of the world and playing with the possibilities discovered is the most healthy, beneficial, and productive thing a human being can do—not the best thing a child can do—the best thing a human being can do. To play and explore is the vocation of a human being.

What is The Center for Play and Exploration? The Center for Play and Exploration teaches adults to redefine play as engagement with development of the world. The Center equips adults to reimagine ministry as exploration and to recreate their lives and relationships. This session will be a teaser of the nine-month cohort program that the Center offers to participants to nurture divergent thinking, innovative problem solving, wonder, and curiosity. Using experiential education, field trips, theological and philosophical teaching, and collaborative learning, participants are formed into exemplary visionary leaders. Participants delight in being citizens of the Kingdom of God wholeheartedly working for the good and flourishing of their churches, missions, and culture.
