A PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM OF EMMANUEL COLLEGE AND FIVE OAKS RETREAT CENTRE
One of the most important ministries that congregations, hospitals, and social ministry placements can offer is a setting for the supervision of students. Many clergy and lay people have found themselves called upon to be a supervisor of Designated Lay Ministers, Ministry Based students, Interns and Field Education students, without any formal training.
INFORMATION
Section 1: Five-day course April 30-May 4, 2018 at Five Oaks: 9:00-5:30, with some evening homework.
Section 2: An experience of supervising someone between section 1 and 2, to be arranged prior to the first section in order to practice skills and integrate learning. Reflecting on who would be a suitable supervisee can be discussed with the instructors.
Section 3: One week course at Emmanuel College, October 22-26, 2018 9:00-5:30 and some evening homework
Total Cost is $1600.00 for the whole program. This includes food and accommodation costs for the first week at Five Oaks and lunch and breaks, but not breakfast, supper or accommodation for the second week at Emmanuel College. The program receives a $300 subsidy per participant from the UCC General Council. Total cost to participants is $50 application fee plus course tuition of $1250 + HST.
Five Oaks is a Conference Centre connected to the United Church of Canada near Paris, Ontario.
Emmanuel College is located at the Museum subway stop on the east side of Queen’s Park Cres., just south of Bloor St. Paid parking is available at Queen’s Park Cres. and St. Joseph.
Completed application form, written reflection, references and application fee must be received by the application deadline, January 7, 2018.
Notice of acceptance into the course will be sent by January 21, 2018.
Confirmation of intent to participate, including arrangement for a supervision experience as well as payment of tuition must be received by February 14, 2018.
