Real life problems and challenges offer us a rich source of learning; however these opportunities can be lost if we aren’t intentional about accessing this learning. In particular, we often find it difficult to set aside time for the critical inquiry and reflection needed to examine the beliefs, assumptions and feelings that influence our ability to achieve our goals.

Coaching encourages learning and change by providing a confidential place for reflection and discovery. It helps people increase their self-awareness, affirm strengths and values, discover options and clarify goals. Coaching fosters insight and helps participants stay accountable for the progress and outcomes they seek.

Situations that bring clergy to coaching include considering or making a move to a new parish or vocational role, needing to make headway with a difficult problem, building leadership skills, and seeking better balance in life. Timing and frequency of coaching sessions are arranged to suit the participant’s schedule and needs; the sessions can be held in person, by phone or Skype.
