“Christ, Culture and Mission in Appalachia: Immersion Seminar”

 

April 24-May 9, 2017

Hosted by Columbia Theological Seminary, Decatur, GA, and sponsored by AMERC
This is a 16-day immersion into the North Carolina Cherokee Nation and the coal-producing and agricultural counties of southeast Kentucky. The residential bases will be Cherokee, NC, and Berea, Hindman, and Pine Mountain, KY. The group will engage in on-site interactions with congregations, agencies, businesses and community leaders from the region. Daily routines will include worship, theological and cultural analysis, reading and reflection. A final integrative paper will be required of all students wishing academic credit.
